Oolong tea is also made from the leaves of the tea plant used to make black tea and green tea. Oolong tea is traditionally originated in southern china and Taiwan. Oolong tea is popular as semi-fermented tea and it contains a mixture of oxidated polyphenols and non-oxidized polyphenols. Therefore it has unique taste and aroma.

Oolong tea contains caffeine as well as back tea and green tea. Caffeine in oolong tea can cause headache in some people after dinking a tea. If you have migraine, drinking oolong tea can cause headache. And also Oolong tea is relatively high-caffeine beverage, therefore drinking more than eight cups of tea per day can cause headaches.

Insomnia

Because the amount is caffeine in oolong tea is high, therefore you may lose a sound sleep due to drinking excess oolong tea or drinking tea near bedtime. Insomnia makes you unable to work efficiently. Therefore, caffeinated foods are not very suitable for pregnant mothers and critically ill patients.

Nausea

Some compounds in oolong tea that can nausea, normally when consumed empty stomach or excess amount of oolong tea. The compounds tannins in tea leave cause this condition. To avoid this condition, you should not drink empty stomach. Usually this condition is common in the society.  

Low nutrient-absorption

The caffeine in the oolong tea reduces the absorption of nutrients in the digestive system. Mainly iron bond with caffeine and it prevents the absorption of the iron. And also drinking excess oolong after every meal can lead to anemia. In, addition, oolong tea also reduces the absorption of fat and carbohydrates. Therefore it is important to be aware of the side effects of oolong tea.

Dizziness

Dizziness with headache is a common side effect after drinking excess amount of caffeine. Oolong also contains some amount of caffeine so you may feel dizzy after drinking excess amount of oolong tea. It is better drinking three or four cup of oolong tea per day. Avoid drinking tea too even oolong tea, especially if you are a pregnant mother.

Caffeine in oolong tea can cause heartburn and acidity of stomach. Caffeine can also contribute to increase the total stomach acid production. Therefore, drinking oolong tea may cause heartburn. If have face this condition, you should avoid taking oolong tea empty stomach or before the breakfast to prevent from this situation. It is also important to avoid excessive tea consumption as excessive tea consumption can also cause this condition.

Pregnancy complications

Consumption of high caffeine-rich beverages such as oolong tea, during pregnancy may increases the risk of complication such as miscarriage and low infant birth weight. Therefore, if you are a pregnant mother, it is important to consult your family doctor before consuming such drinks regularly.
